Elated by the news of a reunion of Utopia, one of my favorite bands, I was inspired to write an anthemic flavored prog-pop song celebrating the band and the collective ethos of the group and their fan base. Mighty respect to my musical heroes, Todd Rundgren, Kasim Sulton, Willie Wilcox and Roger Powell.
lyrics
“Utopia”
chorus: a mighty crack came down split the land and sea
where the prog is good and the drugs are free, utopia
silly willie is back there towin’ the line
while the boys in the band play in 7/4 time, utopia,
utopia, that’s where I’ll be
verse 1: transcending time, the faster we climb, planets aligned
chorus 2: there’s a million radios tuned to the sound
‘til the search for the lost chord is finally found, utopia, utopia
where the dreams are real and the colors don’t fade
and the grass is green and the bills are paid, utopia,
utopia, utopia, that’s where I’ll be
verse 2: and when i rise, a watcher of skies, some kind of sign
bridge: transmission hope, i feel it all around me, one satellite, orbiting above me i’m floating now, see if you can touch me, touch…
bridge 2: ‘cause now I’m starstruck, starstruck, suspended in pure animation, wired up, a technicolor fantasy
chorus 3: if you wanna be the best dressed nominee where todd is god
and the drinks are on me, utopia
where every boy and girl is a rock and roll star & every spaceship’s filled with electric guitars

A contender for best pop-rock album of 2019.
Will Pitchfork and hipsters of their ilk ever take notice of The Rallies and the many artists who do not benefit from the hype that they create around far less talented musicians? POPPHIL
Power Pop nirvana from beginning to end! "One Hit Wonder" sounds like a lost Raspberries classic! You can't go wrong with any Nick Piunti album. baseballdi
Fans of Marine Girls and Talulah Gosh will find a lot to love in the new EP from Allie Hanlon's long-running fuzz-pop project. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 30, 2018
Nick Piunti's third album confirms the idiosyncratic talent of this musician who keeps churning out fantastic power-pop tunes that would rejoice even the most jaded pop-rock fan, whether young or old, if they knew about the existence of 'Beyond the Static'. POPPHIL
